Summer Ices & Shortbread - Half day course

Thursday 28th July 9.30 a.m. - 12.30 p.m.
Suitable for ages 6 - 12 years

Learn how to make your own farmhouse ice creams and sorbets from scratch! We start with the ingredients, with visits to the dairy farm and the bakery fruit garden so you can understand a little more about where the delicious flavours come from. Then it's back to the bakery for you to try and make some real dairy ice cream and sorbet for yourselves. Next we’ll make some buttery shortbread – what better to go with homemade ice cream!
  
Course Content:

  • Visit to the dairy unit and fruit garden on the farm (please bring wellies)
  • Ice cream and sorbet making - with tasting sessions of course! 
  • Shortbread - A chance to make delicious biscuits to go with the ice cream, providing there's some left of course!

Farmhouse Cream Teas - Full Day Course
Suitable for ages 7 upwards

The classic English Farmhouse Cream Tea relies on good things from the farm – and we follow it from farm to plate, cow to crumbs!

We’ll see the dairy farm to find out how our milk, cream and butter are made on a modern dairy farm. Then we’ll make our own cream teas from scratch – so you’ll learn how to bake a classic cake and scones, make jam and butter plus whip cream, all in one day!

Everyone gets to take away plenty of yummy things for all the family to enjoy.

  • Visit to the dairy unit at Hollins Farm (please bring wellies)
  • Making a classic Victoria Sandwich Cake with your own strawberry jam of course!
  • Demonstration on making butter
  • Preserves – jam making
  • Baking Scones
  • Whipping cream to perfection!
  • How to make the perfect pot of tea
  • Afternoon Tea - Sit down with friends and enjoy what you have made
