Spring 2011

Whoopie Pies & Marvelous Muffins! - Tuesday 31st May 2011

Whoopie Pies originate in the USA. Maine in New England claims the Whoopie Pie as its own, but it originated among the Pennsylvania Amish. The Whoopie looks like a sandwich, is a cross between a cake and a cookie, but is definately not a pie! This workshop will teach you how to make basic whoopie pies and fill them with delicious centres. Continuing with the American theme, muffins regularly eaten sweet, also make a fantastic savoury snack. We will be exploring this idea with the children and be having a go at making some to take home for the family to try as well as sampling a few while warm of course!
The course is aimed at children aged 7 and above. The course starts at 10.00 am and will finish at 3.30 pm. The course content for this workshop is listed below. Should you require any further details regarding ingredients, particularly if your child suffers from a particular food allergy, then please do not hesitate to ring the bakery and discuss this with us. Light refreshments will be provided for breaks, however children will need to bring a packed lunch with them. Everything that they make is theirs to take home and share.
