Cookery Courses for 2011/2012

Listed below are the dates currently confirmed for workshops at the bakery. We will be adding to these as we progress through the year so keep looking for new dates. An Introduction to Baking Bread - Monday 27th February 2012

Unfortunately this course is now full. We will be running this course again so keep checking the website or ring the bakery.

A great opportunity to try your hand at making a selection of different breads. This course is ideal for those who wish to learn the basics of bread making and also try out a few more unusual recipies with our resident cook Carolyn Royle, a bread making enthusiast! Learn a new skill while having an enjoyable a day out - bread making is a great reliever of stress. All ingredients are provided and everything you make is yours to take home.
Lunch is included - heartwarming soup, homemade bread (of course!) and a selection of cakes from the bakery.

The course starts at 9.30 am and will finish at 3.00 pm. The course content for this workshop is listed below. Should you require any further details regarding ingredients, particularly if you suffer from a particular food allergy, then please do not hesitate to ring the bakery and discuss this with us.


Course Content:

  • Learn a little about the science of bread making, techniques and the ingredients used to make the bread of your choice.
  • Work with different starters, mix, shape and prove  doughs, through to the bake.
  • Make your own loaf to take home. 
  • Take a look at bread from different parts of the world and from different cultures and try a few samples for yourself.
  • Bake a traditional English fruit tea loaf
  • Hopefully go home inspired to try some new bread making recipies for yourself!
